Calum Melville

Scottish businessman, entrepreneur, property developer, investor, innovator. I’m the founder and CEO of The Edison Group, have previously been a Director of Dundee FC, and have enjoyed a long and varied career history.

I started Grampian Test & Certification, an oil & gas service company, in 1990 with my parents and bought them out for £6.6 million in 2001. I went on, with a great management team, to grow the business from £7 million turnover in 2001 to £35 million in 2007 with £8 million EBITDA and circa 350 employees.

In 2007 I sold the business to Cosalt PLC for £33 million and joined the PLC board of Cosalt where I remained for 3 years, leaving Cosalt in 2010.

I acquired Global Lifting in 2012 and doubled the turnover from £6 million to £12 million whilst quadrupling EBITDA prior to selling the business.

I have been a property developer and owner of commercial and residential property for 15 years and made the leap in 2022 to invest more time and effort in building 3 substantial property businesses across commercial, residential and property solutions for clients which includes purchase, sale, assisted sales, refurbishment and advice for distressed property owners. 

Together with my partners, we’ve set up Edison Property Company, Edison Commercial Property and have acquired 50% of The Property Solutions Company, and invested a six figure sum to grow the business across the UK. The Edison Group are currently investing £1.2 million in commercial property deals in Scotland and have invested £680,000 since July 2022 in residential property, expected to rise to £2 million by the end of December 2022.

I’ve always had a passionate love for business and entrepreneurship, and have a wealth of experience that I’m always keen to share. Lately, my focus has become honed-in on property development, property acquisitions, property redevelopments, and how you can maximise your income from a well-developed portfolio.

It’s long past time since I joined the digital age and embraced the opportunities that having a complete online profile and presence can bring.
